vanilla latte – wcfo627 (block)

copper kettle – toy0660 (beak and talons)

pumpkin spice – wcf0650 (flower eyes and wings)

old gold – wcf0420 (body) 

beige – wcf0626 (breast and round eyes)

loden – wcf0709 (branch)

Floss:

copper kettle – 301

pumpkin spice – 976

old gold – 783

beige – 436 

loden – 522

DIRECTIONS – Refer to pattern and photo for applique placements and cutting instructions.

1] Make a copy of the pattern.

2] Cut out felt using material list above and pattern. Transfer any embroidery markings.

3] Using a running stitch, sew branch to blocking using 2 strands #522.

4] Using a blanket stitch, sew body to block using 3 strands #783.

5] Using a blanket stitch, sew breast to body using 3 strands #436.

6] Using a running stitch, sew beak and talon to body using 2 strands #301.

7] Using a blanket stitch, sew wings and flower eyes to body using 3 strands #976.

8] Using a running stitch, sew round eyes to body using 2 strands #436.

9] Using a straight stitch, add detail to beak and talons using 6 strands #301.

10] Using a stem stitch, add detail to wings and breast using 6 strands #301.

11] Using a woven spider wheel stitch, add center of eyes using 6 strands #522.
