MATERIALS

Felt:

old gold – wcf0420 (block)

antique white – wcf1102 (chicken body and wing)

licorice – toy2003 (comb, beak and 2 legs)

Floss:

antique white – 3865

slate – 3799

DIRECTIONS – Refer to pattern and photo for applique placements and cutting instructions.

1] Make a copy of the pattern.

2] Cut out felt using material list above and pattern. Transfer any embroidery markings.

3] Position chicken on block. Using a running stitch, sew legs, beak and comb to block using 2 strands #3799. The leg, beak and comb seam should be under the chicken.

4] Using a blanket stitch, sew chicken to block using 3 strands #3865.

5] Using a blanket stitch, sew wing to chicken using 3 strands #3865.

6] Using a stem stitch, embroider wing detail using 6 strands #3799.

7] French knot an eye using 6 strands #3799.
