Stars and Stripe Tablerunner

DESCRIPTION: Finished table runner in red and white strips with a wide satin binding. Stars are randomly appliquéd to runner using a zigzag stitch. Measures 18” x 96”.

MATERIALS:

General: Measurements are for fabric 44/45". 100% cotton, of a light to medium weight.

 

Fabric A: ½ yard (white on white)

Fabric B: ½ yard (white on white)

Fabric C: ½ yard (small red star print)

Fabric D: ½ yard (small red star print)

Fabric E (backing): 8’ 1” (navy blue small star print)

Batting: 18” x 96”

2 packages satin blanket binding (navy)

Thread: white and navy

Optional: fusible binding

Pattern of medium stars

CUTTING:

Fabrics A, B, C and D: Using a rotary cutter, cut six (6) 3” strips the width of the fabric.

Fabric E: Cut two (2) pieces 48 ½” x 18”

Batting: Cut one (1) piece 18” x 96” (You can cut 2 pieces 18” x 48” and splice them together, making sure you do not overlap the pieces.)

Stars: 11 stars

Directions:

1] Using the stars on page 13, make copies of stars for patterns.

2] Cut out pieces as described above.

3] With right sides together, sew the Fabric A strips together to form one long strip using ½” seam. Press seams open and roll for easy usage. Repeat for Fabrics B, C and D.

4] With right sides together, sew Fabric E pieces together to form one piece measuring 18” x 96”. Press seam open.

5] Lay the batting over the wrong side of the backing, matching sides. Securely safety pin the batting to the backing.
